How to select multiple items from a list on your computer without clicking on each one individually |

As an example we will suppose that you want to copy some of the documents in your My Documents list onto a CD. You will need to select all of the files/folders you wish to back up. |
| To select ALL of the items in a list
Hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard and then press A (Ctrl A). All the items in the list will be selected |

| To deselect one or more items
Hold down the Ctrl key and use THE MOUSE to click on the individual items that you want to remove from the selection |

| To select consecutive items in a list
Use the mouse to click on the first item in the list. Hold down the SHIFT key on the keyboard and use the mouse to click on the last item in the list to be selected. Everything in between will also be selected |

Hold down the Ctrl key on the keyboard. Use the mouse to click on the individual items to be selected |
